Private dolphin watching tours in Mauritius offer a unique opportunity to observe wild dolphins in their natural habitat and, when conditions allow, swim alongside them with an experienced guide.
The excursion also includes a guided snorkeling session on the coral reef, where you may discover different coral formations, tropical fish and a variety of marine life. Breakfast, refreshments, snorkelling equipment and complimentary underwater videos are included.
Summer departure: 7:30 AM
Winter departure: 8:00 AM
Return is generally between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM depending on the dolphins’ location.
Departure point: Grand Gaube Public Beach
The excursion lasts approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, depending on the location of the dolphin pods. Because dolphins are wild animals that move freely along the northwest coast, the duration may vary slightly according to the conditions of the day.
By leaving early in the morning, we usually reach the observation area before it becomes busier, offering a calmer experience for both our guests and the dolphins.
The northwest coast of Mauritius is one of the island’s best-known areas for observing spinner dolphins and bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat.
After reaching the observation area, you will first observe the dolphins from the boat while our skipper follows their movements respectfully and explains their behaviour.
When conditions are suitable and the dolphins are calm, you may have the opportunity to enter the water and swim alongside them. Your guide accompanies you throughout the experience, helping to ensure your safety while capturing complimentary underwater videos.
Every encounter is different. Some days the dolphins may approach swimmers, while on others they may keep their distance. As with all wildlife encounters, sightings, proximity and behaviour can never be guaranteed.
After the dolphin watching, we stop at a coral reef along the northwest coast for a guided snorkeling session.
Depending on the season and sea conditions, you may observe different coral formations, tropical fish and a variety of marine life. Moray eels, octopuses, turtles, rays and many other reef species may also occasionally be encountered during the snorkeling session.
Whether you are an experienced snorkeler or trying it for the first time, your guide accompanies you in the water to help you enjoy the experience safely and comfortably.
A light breakfast including fresh pastries, coffee and tea is served on board during the excursion.
Drinking water and soft drinks remain available throughout the excursion.
